For the second half of April, we hope to raise a little $20 in order to purchase the above book from Allthingsrasta.com. Giving as little as $1 will go a long way towards reaching this humble goal.  Education is a must, and story telling is one of the African arts the WorldOfJah Foundation would like to preserve and promote. 

The Makeda and Solomon book story will be forwarded to one of our partner Rastafari organisations, the final benefactor will ultimately depend on the ammount of donations raised. In fact shipping costs greatly vary from one destination to another, from $5.50 to the US to $24 to Ethiopia.  We are currently building our partner base, so if you run or know of a Rastafari charity/ngo that could beneficiate from this book, please get in touch at iniroots@googlemail.com

Fundraising Report for Mid-April

Greetings in the name of the Most High Jah!

For the month of April our first objective was to secure the financial viability of the platform, and this has been effectively reached thanks to your love and support, and we are glad to report that we collected $48! This will perfectly cover our hosting costs for the month, and we will soon launch another campaign in order to raise funds for a Rastafari NGO, more details on this should come soon.

We hope to raise and give away another $50 for the second half of April, and we will  introduce new ways to give online, such as shopping through a Rasta clothing affiliate program.  I perfectly overstand that Paypal is not the most practical system for donation, and will therefore work on making it easier for the Is. 

InI would like to give thanks to the woj supporters so far for allowing InI to push this dream further.  Love should cover the earth like water cover the sea, and the works are in motion!

The WorldOfJah is a Rasta Community website totalling nearly 4000 members from 196 countries, of which 35% are from the US. Our website receives around 45 000 visitors and 300 000 pageviews per month, with an Alexa Ranks around the 500 000 mark. With an average monthly growth rate of 18.5% and a constant stream of new members and new contents, we are now thinking of turning this platform into a greater force for change, hence the WorldOfJah Foundation.

The role of the foundation will be to harness the power of the Rastafari collective to facilitate and promote actions that will benefit the wider Rastafari community. The structure of the foundation hasnt been determined yet, and we are oscillating between the non-profit, charity, NGO, or even social business models. As time goes, we should fine tune the Foundation, but as a start we would like to forward 50% of all donations directly to benefactors. 

We will make use of this blog to share our vision, goals and objectives. Furthermore we will publish reports detailing how we spend the funds we raised.

We are looking forward for the future and hope you will join us too in making this world a better place. The big development agencies neednt call the shots: there is no greater army than one nation standing 1gether. The future is ours.
